iPhone 4 Free Case Offer To End After 30th September

by Ferman Aziz

It was one of the biggest stories this year and one that many predicted to hamper iPhone 4 sales. As it turned out, iPhone 4 became the biggest selling iPhone ever despite the media furore over its faulty antenna design which allegedly drops calls when held in a certain way. Apple announced free cases for all customers as according to them the case solves the signal problem of the new iPhone. The offer is still valid but not for long.

If you own the new iPhone and still haven’t ordered your free case, you must hurry as the offer ends on 30th September. Apple posted a statement on the page for the iPhone 4 case, saying:

We now know that the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought. A small percentage of iPhone 4 users need a case, and we want to continue providing them a Bumper case for free. For everyone else, we are discontinuing the free case program on all iPhone 4s sold after September 30, 2010. We are also returning to our normal returns policy for all iPhone 4s sold after September 30. Users experiencing antenna issues should call AppleCare to request a free Bumper case.

This means that Apple will still provide a free case for users who genuinely experience signal problems on iPhones purchased after 30th September but the offer will discontinue for all users who may not have the problem. Apple is also reverting to the company’s standard 30-day return policy. In July, Apple said that in response to problems with the iPhone 4’s antenna, the company would extend its return policy and waive its normal restocking fee.
