YouTube’s Search for World’s Most Creative Video

by Ferman Aziz

YouTube has teamed up with HP and The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in search of what they’re calling “the very best creative video from around the world”. Video artists can submit their entries till July 31, 2010, 12:00 p.m PT, simply by posting them on YouTube and then submitting them at Youtube Play, a platform launched today. A jury of experts from the world of art, design, film, and entertainment will review and judge the entries and up to 20 winning videos will be presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on October 21, 2010, with simultaneous presentations at the Guggenheim museums in Berlin, Bilbao, and Venice. The works will also be available to a worldwide audience on the YouTube Play channel.

YouTube is keeping the playing field open to encourage artists to explore and push the limits as the only criterion for winning is creativity.

Submissions may include any form of creative video, including art, animation, motion graphics, narrative and non-narrative work, or entirely new art forms. YouTube Play hopes to attract innovative, original, and surprising videos from around the world, regardless of genre, technique, background, or budget. Participants can be art students or amateur video makers as well as creative professionals.

Ever since the advent of YouTube, the world has seen some truly amazing visual art from around the world and this opportunity is sure to attract the attention of these artists once again. Surely the winning videos will be a sight to behold.
