Apple promised to release an update to its iOS last month which, it promised, will fix the now world famous faulty antenna or the ‘death grip’ as users like to call it. Apple explained that the actual problem is its faulty software which wrongly shows strong signal strength even in low reception areas and the update will fix that.
The update was rolled out today and Mobile Crunch declared the iOS 4.1 incapable of fixing the problem. It makes sense though as Apple made clear that the update only “improves the formula to determine how many bars of signal strength to display” and now it’s confirmed that the problem is actually hardware based.
Apple tried its best to contain the backlash by blaming it on faulty software but if the company knew about the issue before hand as claimed by Bloomberg, we know that it was bluffing intentionally. Guess Friday’s press conference is going to be a really tough one for Apple.
