Google rolled out its latest update to gmail today, currently available for Chrome users only, allowing users to simply drag and drop attachments to their desktops to save. This is going to make life a hell lot easier for publishing companies, newspapers, websites depending on contributions and a whole lot of other big business, not to mention ordinary consumers too.
All you have to do is to point the cursor on the file or the ‘Download’ option and you’ll see the new text prompting you to drag the file to your desktop to save. It really is as simple as that and it’s a shame that it’s not available on browsers other than Google’s own. Google may roll it out for all at some point but it could also be intentional on their part to keep it exclusive to Chrome. A browser needs some unique features after all to maintain an edge over competitors and gmail and Chrome both belong to Google, who has the right to do so if it chooses.
