Google announced today that it’ll soon be rolling out the facility to edit Google Documents on iPads and Android. The option will let users collaborate and co-edit documents from a whole range of devices. The announcement was made on Google’s official blog.
In the next few weeks, co-workers around the world will soon be able to co-edit files simultaneously from an even wider array of devices,

Google introduced a new 2 step verification process for Google Apps accounts to improve security yesterday and the new mobile editing option will be made available in the next few weeks.
Though users can still use third party apps like QuickOffice to edit their Google Documets files on the iPad but native Google Docs editing capability was missing till now. Google probably realised that it needs to provide an official option to users who’ll obviously prefer to use a native app if made available.
Google is trying to counter the popularity of other cloud based services like Salesforce.com, SugarCRM, Box net and SharePoint which currently lead the market. The new options will further add to Google’s status in cloud based services.
Google has happily reported that three million businesses with a total of over 30 million users have “gone Google” by switching to the Google Apps platform, as of Monday.
